Cesare Picco is multi talented Italian pianist and composer, able to express his musicality in various musical genres: classical, opera, ballet, jazz and pop. Born in Vercelli (Italy) the 31st of July 1969, he started studying piano at the age of four. In 1986 he did his first solo-piano performance, presenting his own compositions in various concert halls. Since then, he pursued his career as a pianist and at the same time he became a reknown composer working for orchestras, string quartets and artists such as: Arena di Verona Orchestra, Royal Manchester Orchestra, CMO Contemporary Music Orchestra… His compositions have been performed in many festivals: Accademia Musicale Chigiana, Gaudeaumus Rotterdam, Cantiere d’Arte di Montepulciano…etc. In 1999, under commission of Fondazione Arena di Verona he composed the opera “Il Viaggio di Hans”. He also wrote original music ballets for the Internationally acclaimed Italian étoile Luciana Savignano: “La lupa” (1998), “Jules e Jim” (2000) and “Tango di Luna” (2004).
In the pop field Cesare Picco worked with top international artists such as Luciano Ligabue, Andrea Bocelli and Ricky Fantè. In 2004 he attended the Summer Festival of Lucca as a supporting act to Michael Buble’ s concert and, in November 2004, he opened for the Italian concerts of Al Jarreau.
In 2005 he performed at Umbria Jazz Festival, where for a whole week he introduced his project "Groovin' Piano" to the Festival's expert jazz listeners continuing then at Lucca Summer Festival 2005 where he opened for the prestigious Terence Blanchard's performance.
In November 2005 his jazz album “My Room” was released in Italy (Edel). “My Room” is a fine musical advise going across different genres, bringing to his listeners the freshness, the intensity and the power of a really strong pianism and the innovation of using sampling inside jazz tradition. The album was acclaimed by critics and reached high sales. ME
In December 2005 he is called to open three Italian dates of the Simply Red tour. In June 2006, He performed with Berlin Chamber Soloists (Zvi Carmeli conductor) at Brescia Festival a revisited version of Brandenburg Concerto N.5 by J.S.Bach. zy,SL
During 2006, the album “My Room” was released in Japan. In December 2006 he performed at the Blue Note in Tokyo (sold-out) and he launched his new album “Christmas Tunes” released in Europe and Japan simultaneously.
